Biography

From throwing dust, blood and oil onto a flatbed scanner for their first series of prints (Award) the collaborative work by Peter Kennard and Cat Picton Phillipps has grown in size, style and medium. The artists work on paintings, combining oil paint with digital printing as well as large scale works printed on newspapers, which are ripped and pummelled in an attempt to physically portray the war-torn country and a people devastated by relentless attack.

Cat Picton Phillipps was born 1972 in Edinburgh, Peter Kennard 1949 in London. They have worked in collaboration since 2003 been part of nearly 30 shows and exhibitions in that time - from Santa’s Ghetto in Bethlehem to the Tate Modern in London, Norwich to Eindhoven, Porvoo local library in Finland to the Imperial War Museum in London, Victoria&Albert Museum to Budapest, Copenhagen to Ljubljana.

Their Award print portfolio is in the V&A permanent collection and their commissioned works include the exhibition DEMO for London’s City Hall and the Palestinian Cultural Centre in London.
