Edu Fuentes studied Illustration and Photography in his hometown Madrid before moving to London in 2009. Since then he’s been working as a freelance illustrator combining a wide range of commercial projects with personal work and exhibitions.
His artwork features bold colours and clean geometric shapes that unfold into 3D space like digital origami, blurring the boundary between vector illustration and paper-cut craft.
Heavily influenced by photography, he creates animated scenes populated by multi-layered characters and objects, playing with light, shadow and depth of field.
He finds inspiration in science, cinema and pop culture, and loves to explore the tension between the organic and the mechanical, between arcane and cutting-edge.
His work has been featured in the books Understanding Illustration, Ghosts of Gone Birds and Three By Three Illustration Directory.
Previous clients include: Intel, BBDO, Wired, BMW, Mayor Of London, Deloitte, EMI, Costa Coffee, Zurich, Royal Society Of Chemistry, The Times, Kurzgesagt and Radiotimes.
