James Carey studied at the London College of Printing, graduating in 2002 with a degree in Graphic Media Design.
James Carey's image making combines traditional draughtsmanship with a modern, graphic approach. James works first by hand, and then digitally finesses the separate layers of found imagery, sketched portraiture, and photographic elements, to build intricate narratives and instant visions.
James Carey is commissioned for advertising, editorial and fashion work by numerous UK based and international clients including Adidas, Sony, VH1, The NME, GQ, Esquire magazine as well as The Independent, The Times and Intersection Magazine, and leading book imprints.
When not undertaking commissioned illustration and graphic work, James paints canvases for exhibition in Los Angeles, Paris and Tokyo.
