Jordi Ros is an illustrator, designer and academic currently based in Barcelona, in the northeastern area of Spain. He has a BA in Product and Graphic Design, and a MA in Illustration from ELISAVA, Barcelona’s most prestigious and largest Design University.
In his practice, Jordi works across the digital and analog spectrum to generate strong and bold narrative imagery, through his understanding of color, abstraction and dynamic compositions. His process usually starts with a basic sketch of an idea and message, and introduces color and texture early on in order to better understand the mood the image can convey.
A strong believer in experimental and personal practice, alongside the commercial side of his work, Jordi enjoys creating deep, personal narratives in what for him is a very intimate process of sharing his views and feelings on certain subjects. Drawing inspiration from past stages of his life, he is particularly influenced by the world of classic eastern animation, folklore and art, as well as spiritual and religious imagery.
Commercially, Jordi has a special focus on creating and developing concepts which then brands can use to launch new products, services or engage with their audience in new and interesting ways.
He has a particular interest in editorial work, such as covers for different publications and books, the music industry and advertising, as well as crossing the boundaries between product and illustration, such as applied graphics for packaging design or commercial applications of his work on products such as Art Toys, Character Design for Animation and Video games, Collectibles or Apparel.
His recent clients include: Adidas, Nike, Vice, Bloomsbury, Random House, Virgin Atlantic, Superplastic, Devil Toys & Odooki, amongst others.
Jordi is also currently a consultant, researcher and senior lecturer on Illustration, Product Communication and Applied Design Methodologies, for both BA and MA students at his alma mater in Barcelona.
