We’re proud to share the news that Début illustrator John Slade’s studio, HideYourToys, will be exhibiting at Beach London for the whole month of February. The exhibition’s theme – ‘leaving’ – at first glance sounds like heavy emotional fare for so early in the year. However, in classic HideYourToys form the subject matter is delivered with a humorous twist: "The idea came about from always forgetting things when leaving the house,” says John, "but it’s evolved into bad advice, symbolic references, and whatever else comes to mind really”. The private view will be held at Beach London on February 4th from 6-9pm, with complimentary adult beverages supplied by Camden Brewery. This is especially exciting for Début as we look forward to hosting another solo show, ‘Business or Pleasure’, from HideYourToys at the Coningsby Gallery this coming May. You can read more about HideYourToys and the show in the interview below. We look forward to seeing you there!...
We love a great beer job. Joe Wilson teamed up with independent craft beer company Brewdog to create a limited edition can for their red rye IPA, Albino Squid Assassin. Joe’s outstanding illustration packs a punch – the perfect high impact design for an exclusive, high profile launch. Brewdog’s principle tenets of great beer and great design meant this was a perfect marriage between creative and company. Craft beer and independent breweries have been on an exciting rise, and we’re happy to see this contemporary approach to beer extending to its visual aspects. We’re delighted to start the new year by sharing the results of Kid Acne's collaboration with FORD for their KeepItFestive social media drive last December. FORD enthusiasts from across the globe got the opportunity to see their world as it would appear in the Kid Acne universe for this interactive campaign: customers were invited to send photos of their cars in to be hand-personalised by Ed and released back into the social media sphere, accompanied by personalised Christmas messages from FORD. Cue a cast of cute, offbeat Kid Acne characters, snow, and plenty of decorations alongside some rather intriguing car portraits and poses from the participants. The finished pieces are a playful combination of photography and illustration, perfectly complementing the atmosphere of the festive season.
