It’s the most wonderful time of the year for festive commissions! The latest project we’re delighted to share is a collaboration between montage maestro Peter Strain and the innovative Light House Cinema in Dublin. To help promote their holiday films programme, Light House approached Peter to create an illustration encapsulating their annual ‘Naughty or Nice’ Christmas films line up, capturing key characters from each movie they’re showing this season. The final magical snowy landscape hosts a stellar cast of cult and classic film characters, and really captures the contrasting theme of Light House’s season; the melancholy Edward Scissorhands cavorts with a jovial Olaf, whilst Bill Murray’s Scrooge, Frank Cross, casts a doubtful eye at Buddy the Elf, bursting with his usual festive enthusiasm. Ben Johnston has been working with the teams at Droga5 and Fast Horse to transform Diet Coke fan tweets into amazingly detailed pieces of custom-made artwork inspired by the taste and look of Diet Coke. Diet Coke is expressing thanks via a new Twitter-led social campaign called “ReTweets of Love.” The campaign champions fans who share their unwavering love for the great taste of Diet Coke on social media, by surprising dozens of people with their tweets reimagined in clever ways and in unexpected places. “We’ve been connecting with our biggest and most passionate fans through social media for years, but we felt it was time to return that love in a way that’s as big as our appreciation. This Autumn hitandrun worked with the team at Mercedes-Benz World on not one but two outstanding projects. The first was for the launch of the Mercedes-Benz Christmas Campaign 2015. Fully CGI artwork was created at banner resolution, each piece 12,000 pixels wide and installed as an 8m canvas and display boards across Mercedes-Benz showrooms. The campaign will continue to appear throughout magazine publications in the run up to Christmas. The second was to create the striking Team Mercedes Formula One display, permanently on display at the Mercedes-Benz Museum at Brooklands; the 14m x 3.5m x 5m display shows the two Silverstone Team Mercedes pit garages. The garages are represented by two large format canvas prints on light boxes and are set inside the built out frame of the garage walls. In August, Helen was approached by Etsy to collaborate with them on their 2015 holiday campaign. The idea was for 17 unique sets to be created, each reflecting the different tastes of a particular person. The final shot would show all the room dioramas combined to form the perfect festive Etsy house. To put the thought into action Daniel, Etsy's art director, flew over from Berlin and spent a few days working with Helen in her London-based studio coming up with the concept for each room. Over the following weeks, Helen worked busily with her team of assistants to design and make the components needed for each set. Each element was then carefully packed and Helen, accompanied by her precious paper cargo, flew to New York to shoot the final animated sequence. It took a total of 10 days to bring the rooms to life, with the talented Trisha Zemp working as photographer to capture still images of the set.
